Julia & Mark were married in Foresthill, California, in the heart of California’s Gold Country. Since the estate (Monte Verde Inn) they got married at was built during the Gold Rush with gold money, they thought it was an appropriate theme to play out in various ways for their day with lots of lovely DIY details.
They’re a fun couple with a great group of friends and family. I had SO much fun with them! THANK YOU, Julia and Mark!

Julia is a fashion designer– she and Mark actually found me through a mutual friend, Zoe, of Hemlines & Heels. What’s even funnier is that it turns out that she and Paxton, from my modern design-inspired wedding at Cornerstone Gardens, work next to one another as designers! SMALL WORLD!
So, onto some wardrobe details then…
The wedding dress was by Pronovias, a Spanish design house. Julia loved their beautifully delicate lace workmanship. Her favorite part of the dress was the how the crinkled layer peeked out of the bottom. Comfort was also very important to Julia and Mark, demonstrated by both of their shoe selections: Julia traded in a pair of Christian Louboutins, which were horribly painful, for some fab wedges by Fergie. The guys wore Converse!

Both the bride and groom wear their ink very well, if I do say so. Mark’s tattoos are Dayak motifs from Borneo; hers are Henna patterns from India and they’re beautiful.

So sweet, her mom always has all her kids close to her heart:

More info from the beautiful bride, Julia:
“We tried to pull in old-timey details like the wooden clothespin, the picket fence and natural rope for the escort card display. We chose penny candy as our favors and color coordinated it to our wedding colors. There were over 40 lbs of candy in that display! We also loved the antique milk jug that we found at a shop in SF to use as our cardholder. The table names were really easy because we just used historical town names from the Gold Country– my favorites were “The Little Town of Rough and Ready” and “The Community of You Bet”. Another great addition was that my mom’s boyfriend, Bryan, brought his Model T which made for some amazing pictures!”

I really had such a a good time on their wedding day — not to mention before and after, too, in any correspondence with them. They are such a cute pair to witness and truly have such wonderful friends and family . [1-2-3...jump!]
